DANIEL CRAIG has discovered that playing JAMES BOND has some major perks - he has a lifetime drive deal with car firm Aston Martin.
As Bond, the actor drives the sporty British cars - and Aston Martin bosses have told him he's always free to go for a spin in one of their top motors.
Craig says, "I'm lucky enough that if I desperately want to drive in an Aston Martin, the company is just fantastic to me. They'll let me go on a track and drive one all day long."
The perk has made Craig think twice about actually buying an Aston Martin: "I could drive it faster and more furiously (on the track) than anywhere on the road. I live in London (and) it doesn't make any sense to drive an Aston Martin there. I've nowhere to park it."

The Welsh are claiming James Bond hunk Daniel Craig as their own after experts discovered the actor's ancestors are mainly from Wales.

Geneologists have established that the Quantum of Solace star's family tree on BOTH sides shows he has Welsh roots.

The Bond star's grandfather was William John Gartland Craig who served in World War II as a Lt Colonel and lived in Colwyn Bay, North Wales.

Daniel's paternal grandmother Rosalinde Craig was also of Welsh origin. Her maiden name was Rosalinde Jones and she came from Llandudno.

Daniel's mother Carol is also of Welsh stock. Her father was a pub landlord whose name was Olwyn Williams and whose family hailed from Flintshire.

Though Daniel himself was born in Chester and raised on Wirral, Merseyside, Welsh tourist chiefs are planning to proclaim the actor as one of their own.

A spokesman for the North Wales Tourism Partnership said they were delighted to discover the new Bond belongs to a distinguished actors with Welsh blood in their veins.

Dewi Davies, North Wales Tourism Partnership Regional Strategy Director said: "We are delighted to learn that Daniel has North Wales roots.

"It is also worth remembering that two classic Bond movies shot in Snowdonia: From Russia with Love and The World is Not Enough.

"Hopefully Daniel will come and film a new Bond movie in our area soon so we can feature him on our movie map."

Geneologist Derek Skepper, who delved into Daniel Craig's roots, said: "It is clear that there is a major Welsh element in his ancestors.

"The surname Craig is not Welsh and it seems that has come from his paternal grandfather who came from Suffolk.

"I found that his grandfather William John Gartland Craig was English and worked as a grocer in Ongar, Suffolk.

"He married Welsh-born Rosalinde Jones in Stutton, Suffolk, in August 1936, and they later moved to North Wales.

"Their son Timothy Craig - Daniel's father - was born at a maternity home in Colwn Bay.

"His maternal grand father has the name Olwyn Williams and he too came from Wales before he ended-up running a pub in Chester."

Daniel's father was brought up in a classic tudor-style cottage, now known as Hafod-y-Gan, in Gronant, near Prestatyn.

Its current owner Philip Crow knew nothing about the part the building played in the Craig family history until they were told by the Daily Star.

Philip, 44, said: "I always thought that Daniel Craig had the look of a Welshman but it is very surprising to hear his family used to live in our house.

"We had no idea that his grandparents lived here at the time that Daniel's father Timothy was born.

"It's good to know the old place has a modern claim to fame.

"If Daniel ever wanted to come back for a visit and take a look around the old ancestral pile he would be very welcome to do so."

* Daniel is not the first Bond with a Welsh connection. Timothy Dalton who made two outings as the superspy in Licence To Kill and The Living Daylights was born in Colwyn Bay but neither his mother or father were of Welsh origin.

Omega may now be the official watch of the James Bond films, but offscreen, nouveau 007 Daniel Craig is a diehard Rolex fan. In the original books, Bond creator Ian Fleming wrote that "[Bond] could not just wear a watch. It had to be a Rolex." In the early Bond films, Sean Connery sported a Rolex Submariner, and Craig has said in interviews that he favors the identical model. Over at the Rolex Blog, Jake Ehrlich has done some impressive sleuthing into the James Bond / Craig / Rolex connection, examining quotes, photos and other clues.

In a 7-part series of posts, he determined that Craig usually wears a Rolex Submariner on a NATO spec, striped nylon strap (sold as the "James Bond" model). It is in fact not exactly the same as the one Connery sported in Goldfinger, as his was on slightly different regimental stripe strap. Most recently, Craig has been spotted wearing an understated stainless steel Oyster Perpetual (above), so he obviously has more than one Rolex in his arsenal.

Daniel Craig insists he is no diva.

The British actor - who plays James Bond in 007 movies Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace - says he would rather spend time with the crew than sit on his own in his trailer like a self-important movie star, and slated stars who think they are too important to mingle with their colleagues.

He says, "I don't spend much time in my trailer - even if it's huge. And it never is. The last place that I want to be is in a smelly caravan.

"I mean, I'd rather be on set trying to get some work done and spending time with my colleagues. Everyone should do that."

Dear Daniel or some other person out there,
I am/was the Camera Operator for a certain BRILLIANT David Watkin, Director of Photography, who sadly passed (I was LUCKY TO TALK at the END, JUST!) on to the next world early last year.
He, Daniel AND I , Cary Fisher, DID the obscure film "OBSESSION"which the Director Peter Zher(very) certainly was.....
Danny Boy May confirm that I was the cause OF HIS relationship beginning then with the Star other Hieke Makash.. By some subterfuge between us allready close mates..
Honestly the way it started was duing a "Scene" which demanded a certain"look" from her, and, THE VERY CLOSE to ME Daniel Wanker GOT THAT BY HAVING "IT" OUT WHEN GETTING "INTO" BED!

WHAT A 'LOOK" WE GOT! WE LAUGHED TILL LIMP!
That relationship lasted for some time, AS YOU KNOW? IT WAS THEN...........IN CATASTROPHIC later TIME.....THAT
IN late 1999 I crashed and burned, literally....(and... SOBER!) with the loss of both legs..YOU, Daniel Flew OVER TO LA AND shoved me about in a wheelchair(really I think he needed somewhere to stay!) for a month or so and gave me heartfelt support..
