James Bond actor says one longtime franchise is not enough

After starring in the most popular James Bond film of all time, "Casino Royale," blond British hunk Daniel Craig has his sights set on yet another cultural icon, this time American.

Since the news is appearing on this site, there can't be too many guesses to make. If you said Star Trek, give yourself a star!

"I would love a stint in the TV show or in a film," Craig recently told the World Entertainment News Network about Star Trek. "It's been a secret ambition of mine for years."

That could mean some interest in the upcoming proposed Star Trek XI movie from producer J.J. Abrams that reportedly will resurrect the characters of Kirk and Spock.

His three-picture deal with the company was not said to be especially generous. "It reflected the fact that he was an unknown quantity in the part," a pal of the 39-year-old actor tells me. "This is just to make sure he doesn't now start to feel hard done by."

DANIEL Craig left a star-struck admirer shaken and stirred by a four-letter outburst - when he realised his posterior had been papped.

The 39-year-old Casino Royale star launched his astonishing verbal attack at London's posh Harvey Nichols store on Wednesday afternoon.

He even squared up to 24-year-old Craig Evans for having the "cheek" to take a discreet camera-phone snap of his rear as he was about to leave the Knightsbridge department store.

An irate Daniel had to be placated by his producer girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell, who told him to "behave and calm down" before ushering him into a waiting silver Mercedes.

Casino Royale star Daniel, 39, played the ultimate gentleman during a shopping trip to London department store Harvey Nichols with producer girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell, even proffering considered opinions on the clothes she picked out.

“While many men refuse to shop with their partners and others do so with gritted teeth, Daniel was quite happy to wait patiently while his girlfriend shopped,” says our girl in designer togs.

“He even offered advice on her choices. Sadly, he wasn’t buying up any more fetching swimming trunks for himself.”

GMTV host Ben Shephard is the Englishman women most want to bed on St George's Day.

In a poll of hunks, he beat Bond actor Daniel Craig, No 2, and Kent-born Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom, No 3.

Tony Blair was 10th - one place behind X Factor's Simon Cowell.

TV stars Ant and Dec both made it, with Dec at No 4 and Ant seven.

Shephard, 32, bagged a quarter of votes in the survey of 3,000 women by Ann Summers shops. A spokesman said: "Millions find him irresistible."

Meanwhile lardy Radio One DJ Chris Moyles topped a roll-call of men women DIDN'T fancy.

Druggy rocker Pete Doherty was second and gangly Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, third.
